Happy Birthday Kelly Macdonald
Today marks Kelly Macdonald's 41st birthday, so to celebrate, we thought we'd take a look at her impressive acting career and celebrate her contribution to TV and Film over the last 21 years.
Working as a barmaid in Glasgow, Kelly Macdonald had seen fliers advertising an open casting, for the film Trainspotting, dotted around the city. Although she hadn't had much acting experience, she decided to go along and audition anyway. Winning the part of Diane, she was quickly propelled into the acting world, and shot to fame the moment Trainspotting hit the cinemas in 1996.
With an impressive acting career spanning 21 years, Macdonald has played a number of roles in a variety of films. She is best known for her roles in Gosford Park, Intermission, Nanny MacPhee, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2, and Brave, as well as Trainspotting.
She was nominated for the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a supporting role, for her part in No Country for Old Men. She also received an Emmy Award nomination in 2011 for her role as Margaret Thompson in Boardwalk Empire.
Born in Glasgow in 1976, Kelly finally returned home in 2014, after living in London and then New York, with her family. Married to Dougie Payne, bassist of rock band Travis, the couple have two children.
