A Scottish Wedding - Marcie and Daniel

A Scottish Wedding - Marcie and Daniel
By Sophie

Today we bring you the second article, in our series, of featured Scottish Weddings. The best part is we're looking at you guys, our fabulous customers, and featuring your special days. We love to see how we've helped to shape your Scottish Weddings. This week we're hearing from the lovely Marcie and Daniel! They had a gorgeous winter wedding in the stunning Rocky Mountains and in this article they tell us all about it...

What is your name and your spouses name?

Daniel and Marcie Gallagher

How did you meet?

We met at work. I held out for 3 months and finally let him take me to lunch. We've been inseparable ever since.

How did he propose?
Daniel asked me to marry him, at Dillon Reservoir, about 1.5 years after we started dating.

When and where did you get married?
We got married on the 13th December 2013 at the Wild Basin Lodge, in Allenpark Colorado.

What made you decide to have a Scottish Wedding or incorporate Scottish tradition into the day?
I really wanted to include my Scottish/Irish heritage and he wanted to include his Irish heritage because they are so important to us. During the wedding planning, we made sure to include a lot of Celtic details throughout the wedding day.

How did you do this?

The men wore full dress Kilt attire. I included tartan ribbon purchased from Scotweb CLAN in my reception shoes, the cake, and other little places. Celtic knots were included in fine details and we hired a very talented piper to play before and during the ceremony.

What did you both wear?
My dress was white and red and his kilt was the red Wallace Tartan.

What was your first dance to?
It's Your Love by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. Every part of the ceremony was accompanied by the bagpipes.

What was your favourite part of the day?
Every part of the day was amazing. Playing around in the snow during the pictures was a blast. Of course, I remembered my snow boots and Dan stayed in his Ghillies, so he slid around in the snow!

What would be your advice for anyone who is planning a Scottish Wedding?
Make it your own. You don't have to follow anyone's tradition or vision of how things should be. It's your day, make it that way!

Marcie says - "It was almost 4 years ago now, but it still feels like yesterday. Our ceremony was held in the beautiful Colorado Rocky Mountains next to the St Vrain river, in December. It was a bit chilly, but worth every shiver! I walked down the aisle to our Piper playing 'The Flower of Scotland' and those bagpipes echoed down the canyon so beautifully. I ordered Wallace Tartan ribbon for the cake, other accessories and the laces in my reception shoes from Scotweb. Details were very imprtant to us. All the wedding party guys wore full dress kilt attire. Daniel and the ring bearer were in the Wallace Tartan and the others worse Celtic Pride. It was such a magical day."

We are so happy that we were able to be of service for your big day Marcie and Daniel. We love that you used our tartan ribbon for your wedding cake and added flashes of tartan in other parts of the day too.
